The Roadrunners used a miraculous string of four plays to rip UNT’s heart out of their chest as UTSA moved to 6-2 on the season with a commanding first place lead over the rest of Conference USA. It was both a memorable and monumental win for UTSA as they served North Texas payback for not only ruining the Roadrunners’ regular season in 2021, but as well as The Drive in 2017.
UNT was happy to sit back in zone coverage and cede the run to UTSA, a challenge to which Brenden Brady and Kevorian Barnes were happy to answer. Meanwhile, UTSA heavily focused on stopping the run on defense and Austin Aune wasn’t able to consistently make UTSA pay for their aggressive play.
Unfortunately, the big win was a bit marred by the news that Rashad Wisdom will be out for the rest of the season due to injury. Kelechi Nwachuku and Ken Robinson will be asked to step up with Wisdom lost for the year. Will the injury set the Roadrunners’ title defense chances back?
